Dr. Mohammad Rafi HAMIDI, born and
raised in Kabul, Afghanistan, holds a Master’s degree in Cardiovascular (MS)
and a PGME in Cardiothoracic Surgery. After achieving the highest score in the
national entrance exam (Kankor), he was admitted to the Faculty of Medicine at
Kabul Medical University. Later, by decree of the Government of the Islamic
Republic of Afghanistan, he was awarded a government scholarship for higher
education abroad.
Upon completing his advanced training,
Dr. HAMIDI returned to Afghanistan and initially worked in Kabul as a health
coordinator with the Afghan-Qatar Red Crescent Society. He was subsequently
admitted to the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) program at Fudan
University in Shanghai, China, through a competitive examination held by the
Ministry of Higher Education.
Fudan University ranks as the 3rd most
prestigious university in China, 7th in Asia, and 31st globally. Dr. HAMIDI
graduated from Fudan in 2019 and returned to Afghanistan, where he has since
served as Deputy Health Directory of the Afghan Red Crescent Society. In this
role, he has focused on providing health services to remote regions and
underserved populations.
Dr. HAMIDI has published numerous
scientific articles in internationally recognized journals, including
PubMed-indexed publications. He is an established international researcher in
the field of cardiology and cardiac surgery in Afghanistan and a two-time
recipient of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS) award.
Over his career, Dr. HAMIDI has
performed thousands of open and closed-heart surgeries in private hospitals.
Notably, he was the first cardiac surgeon to successfully perform open-heart
surgery at the government-run Sadr-e-Ibn-e-Sina Cardiothoracic Hospital.
Currently, Dr. HAMIDI is leading the
Cardiology Department at Turkiye Chinar Clinic in Kabul, where he provides
comprehensive outpatient and inpatient hospital services on a 24/7 basis – Call
